September... MU...and Why We Are NEVER Going to Get Rid of This Pandemic
Another variant has risen...this time MU...pronounced Mew like kitten not Moo like cow.
We have been having new cases of Delta (which is still the dominant strain) at a number of over 1 million per week in the US now for that past 5 weeks.
MU which is in Flori-duh is unique in the fact that the vaccine doesn't faze it. It has mutated around it.
If MU becomes the dominant strain it will be back to square one for us.
sigh
Not being alarmist or dabbling in hyperbole...just virology 101.
This setback rests firmly with the "...you can't make me wear a mask or get vaccinated..." crowd.
And speaking for the rest of us....we are fairly pissed off.
Back to masking and weaseled my way into a third dose of the vaccine...and it STILL doesn't feel safe.
My county is only 32% vaccinated.
But wait...there's more.
The spread-necks out here have decided that whereas they don't trust the guv'mint...CDC...or vaccines- they will now eat horse paste...sheep drench...cow dewormer...or drink bleach or Betadine solution...because some asshole on Faux Noise or the Innernets told them it would cure Covid.
Jesus Wept.
We are seeing almost 2000 deaths a day in the US that are Covid related.
Worldwide we have surpassed 4.5 million deaths.
Worldwide there are over 227 million cases.
The ratio seems to have settled everywhere at 2 out of 100 (2%) will die of Covid.
That is a lot of dead people.
We have a decent President now.
We have masks.
We have the vaccine.
But it is true...you can lead a horse to water...but you can't make him drink.
I don't know what the answer is...
