60 times more transmissible...and 30 times more deadly than the Alpha (original) Covid-19 virus. And the numbers are rising wildly again.
An RO between 5 and 8...as infectious as measles, chickenpox.
Sometimes knowing is terrifying.
To paraphrase Christopher Moore
"We could be dead tomorrow...I'm eating the fucking cookies...okay???"
And it is insane...more and more people are refusing to mask up or take the damned vaccine.
Boggles my mind.
Effectively turning their bodies into incubators for the next variant...which might be the one that figures a way around the vaccine and kills us all.
Jesus Wept.
So tired.
I have two boxes of masks and have returned to wearing them...and if this trajectory does not right itself there will be no further dining out for the foreseeable future.
Worldwide we are back to over a half million new infections every day.
Yesterday, in a single day, the states had 92,000 new cases.
Yet outside people en masse are acting like it just isn't happening.
The hospitals are packed again...this time 99% of those who are hospitalized or die are unvaccinated.
Pfizer is ready to release a booster in August...and when it is available I will certainly be taking it.
Meanwhile...and this is embarrassing and terrifying to me...only one of my three sons is vaccinated.
My pleas fall on deaf ears.
I was so hopeful in January...now I just don't know.
Dr. Fauci is beyond frustrated...his last response to a reporter who asked why we should take the jab...an heavy sigh...an eyeroll and
"Because you want to live."
