End of February....and Good News

 It is 2/21/21...and several new strains of Covid are now out there in the world. One such is even a mash-up of two new mutations.

But that is not what I am here to talk about today.

There are four viable vaccines out now...worldwide...with more coming. Millions and millions have already gotten their second dose and (infections and deaths) are beginning to slowly reflect this.

Our President feels confident that we can expect to see some normalcy return by the end of the year.

God, I hope so.

Although worldwide there are nearly 112 million infections with 2 and a half million dead...we are now seeing about 300,000 infections each day instead of 1/2 million or more added every day!

In the US we have watched the new infections drop from 300,000+ to under 100,00 daily. And our daily deaths drop from 4,000 to 1,000 or under.

Trust me when I say this is significant progress.

We aren't out of the woods yet...but we have found the path that leads to a clearing.

At this point many of my friends..older than me...have been vaccinated. 

At 60...I am in the next group, and will happily roll up my sleeve as soon as possible.

Still there are anti-vaxxers and nay-sayers spouting fear and doom and gloom...but they seem less and less all the time. 

In the United States we have now lost over a half million people to this plague.

My grandchildren's children will read about all this in Social Studies one day...and their parents (my grandchildren) and their grandparents (my children) will recall living through it...and lockdowns...and masks and social distancing...and Covid buddies and pods...before the vaccine. 

We are living history.
