Vaccinations Have Arrived...and The Surge

The first of the Pfizer vaccine has arrived. Trailing the UK about a week. Very few problems noted as of now.  4 cases of Bell's Palsy. 2 incidents of allergy. One case of anaphylactic shock in Alaska.

Enough to make me realize I want to take my shot, when it becomes available, at a hospital and not in CVS or Walmart.

MY DIL, an EMT, says her station already has its supply.

Moderna should be approved by today.

Several others are in queue for release soon.

It is enough to make tears of joy and hope come to my eyes. By this time next year, or maybe before...this plague will join the rest of them between the pages of textbooks...and not in the thousands of bodybags we are seeing daily.

But not quite yet.

This was yesterday

My County: 2043 cases with 34 deaths.

My State: 447,190 with 6860 deaths.

My Country USA: 17,654,984  (million) with 318,413 deaths

Worldwide: 75,504,158 (million) with 1,672,718 (million) deaths

And we still have the positive rates and deaths from the holiday season yet to roll in.

In the US alone they are projecting 500,000 deaths.

It is frightening.

So close to the end of this...and so far away for many.

Already the conspiracy theorists and anti-vaxxers have started their insane rumbles...among these being that the government can use it to control your brain and they are micro-chipping you and can tell your location from the micro-chip.

 Yeah.

I WISH I was joking.

(...by the way...see the omnipresent cell phone in your pocket...you are already chipped and GPS'ed...okay???)

Even my ridiculously out-dated clamshell phone has location.

And a bit of depression setting in as I realize Christmas (like all the other holidays and birthdays) this year has been effectively cancelled...and it has been months since I have hugged any of my grandchildren.

Damned Covid.

This, too, shall pass.

I will be in the second wave for inoculation...until then there is only masking up, social distancing, antibacterials, and handwashing.

The first wave involves elected officials, healthcare workers, and very elderly/nursing homes.

Staying safe.

The VP and 2nd lady took theirs on TV today.
