It's BACK...
Okay...to be fair...we really never let it leave. But it did slow down a little for a while, I guess.
Not anymore.
The Second Wave has started. Ready or not. Loading my Instacart with extra paper products and canned/frozen items before the rest of everyone has their holy shit moment.
Get in that mind-set.
Going to enjoy next week's pre-planned Getaway because the next one will probably be next year. If then.
The numbers are numbing. In the US we have had our 4th consecutive day of 50,000 or greater new infections. Two days ago was 60,000.
Deaths right now are around 1,000 a day.
There is a lag time...about 3-4 weeks...then the deaths will explode as well.
Worldwide is seeing the surge as well.
My county has doubled in the past week. Double the infection number that took 8 months to build.
And you can see why the second wave is always worse...more fatalities...because people are exhausted...Corona fatigued. Ready to resume life and activities at a normal level.
Except we are no where near normal.
Globally we are at 37,693,742 cases. That is well over 37 million.
1,080,237 are now dead.
Say it with me...
One million, eighty thousand, two hundred and thirty seven people are no longer alive.
They leave behind partners, parents, children or grandchildren, brothers or sisters or both.
1,080,237.
It is hard to come to terms with that large a loss.
It is easy to imagine one person, or ten, or even 50 or 100...but when the number moves out of thousands, into tens of thousands...then hundreds of thousands...then millions...
Well, that is harder.
In the US we have lost 219,607 people.
They tried to set up folding chairs as a Memorial...but stopped at 20,000 realizing what a vast and impossible task they had started.
It looked like this
So after my 2 day trip...which is still taking a risk...I will be quarantining for the remainder of 2020.
Wearing a mask.
Washing my hands.
Not touching my face.
And maybe...just maybe...surviving this pandemic.
