It's Been Awhile....and Pasta
Yeah...if you've been following the stats...you're probably hiding in the house, too.
It is April 4th and these are the numbers:
My County (Putnam)
14 with 1 death
My State (Indiana)
3,953 with 116 deaths
My Country (USA)
302,919 with 8,243 deaths
The World (Earth)
1,188,487 and 64,103 deaths
That escalated quickly.
This marks my 26th day of Self-Isolation and except for one disastrous and truly scary trip out (and I won't be making that mistake again) I have been Sheltered-in-Place.
Unlike several other Republican led states...mine quickly shut down the non-essential businesses and schools & such. 8 of 50 states remain open t this time. All red.
Now there's a surprise...
Said no one ever.
And stress-eating is a very real thing.
I think Christopher Moore summed it up best this morning on Twitter,
"We could be dead in a week, I'm having fucking sprinkles on my ice cream,"
Nodding in silent agreement, while I sat with a pint of Ben and Jerry's Half Baked, and a spoon.
My weakness during this turbulent week...pasta.
Dry, fresh or frozen.
Smothered in tomato sauce, marinara or Alfredo.
Dusted with Parmesan, basil or oregano.
Topped with mushrooms and green peppers.
Or with shaved Truffle.
Hey...it may be a pandemic...but we don't have to be uncivilized, okay?
And why the hell WON'T Insta-cart deliver dinner wine, anyway???
So, yeah...this has pretty much been me...all week.
It is comforting to know Walmart delivers jeans.
I almost decided to delete this journey of an unfolding pandemic, but thought the better of it.
Not only is it a way to keep myself centered and (more or less) sane through all this...but it is also documentation for the future.
One person's account of life during Covid-19 from the very beginning.
